What happens when you mix the excitement of earnings season with the anticipation of a potential major product release from the company formerly known as Apple Computer (AAPL)? One of the things you might expect is companies like Hewlett Packard (HPQ), Dell (DELL), and Microsoft (MSFT) will get very little attention no matter how much they whine and throw tantrums.

Sure, Apple has cornered the market on cool gadgets we all must own no matter what they cost, but how can a rumored new product release from one company all but obliterate the very life force of these other leading technology companies?
At the recent Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show, all these big-time gadget companies showed actual new products complete with armies of well-dressed trade show personnel sporting the usual big smiles, but no one else seemed to care since Apple was about to release something really big.

Could this be Apple’s next big thing?
What surprises could we expect from Apple in the next few weeks?  Could it really be this much-anticipated iTablet or something else? .
